Expert Consultants in Mental Health
Maia Institute

The Maia Institute , a group of Expert Mental Health Consultants, offers services nationwide in both English and Spanish, as well as American Sign Language (ASL), with base locations in Washington DC Metro Area and Northern VA, as well as in the San Francisco Bay Area and Northern California. The Maia Institute focuses on the provision of expert consultations on matters of mental health and law, psychodiagnostic and neuropsychological assessments, and consultation services for institutions seeking to optimize mental health, its delivery, or compliance with regulations.

In addition, Maia Institute offers clinical consultation services on distinct patient populations, such as Sports Psychiatry, Treatment-Resistant Illnesses, Medication Assisted T reatment of Addiction, Alternative and Complementary Treatment of Mental Illness, and the Management of Mental Illnesses in conjunction with severe medical or neurological pathology. The Maia Institute actively seeks to contribute to the development of tools that support efficient and advanced medical practice.

Past experience included work in different states; in emergency, acute inpatient, long term inpatient, and outpatient settings; in stand-alone psychiatric hospitals as well as medical-surgical facilities; in the courts; in government funded service areas, as well as in the private sector. These experiences inspired the drive to narrow the gap between scientific advanced and clinical application in order to provide services with the degree of sophistication called for, and which training allowed. Maia was borne with the idea of offering guidance by bringing together innovative and highly skilled minds in an environment where individual strengths and creativity would allow mental health care at their fullest potential.

The name Maia holds a number of meanings in different cultures since ancient times, including “mother” in Greek mythology, “growth” in Roman culture, “illusion” in Sanskrit, “everlasting truth” in Japanese, ”water”, “the one”, and more. Many of these concepts we stand for as an institution, both in meaning, as well as in diversity and timelessness. Similarly, our logo represents a spiral, at times dizzying and never-ending, but ultimately representing a design that is architecturally solid, interconnected, and with fluent functionality.

Our Mission Statement:

To offer comprehensive, high end, best-evidence practice mental health assessments and evaluations to clients requiring the most critical and intensive needs.

To become a national referral center for matters of mental health that require higher degrees of subspecialization.

What Sets MAIA Apart

Differences that Matter in Choosing an Expert

  • Psychiatry and Psychology: Every opinion is bolstered by the medical exam and psychological testing considerations.
  • Multiple Consultants: Not only will we always have someone available, we have the right one with the narrow focus of expertise you seek.
  • Spanish and ASL (American Sign Language) :Very few forensic consultants can conduct these evaluations with native level of fluency in other languages.
  • Nationwide: Multiple state licensures. No longer having to be relegated to the "same experts as always" in your state.
  • Experience: all our experts have experience in clinical and forensic settings, and academic and teaching.
  • Exceptional work: Our consultations are thorough, detailed, adherent to the gold standard of forensic practice, comprehensive, well-structured.
  • Comprehensive Evaluations: Structured, evidence-based, consulted and reviewed internally for quality.
  • Consultants you want to work with: Easy to communicate, responsive, reasonable in approach, assertive yet relatable to jurors.
